Amira Hanafi is a poet, cultural worker, and artist working with language as a material. She makes systems and games to prompt and play with different kinds of language. Publishing and performance are fundamental tactics. Polyvocality is both a theme and a strategy in their work, which has been shown widely online and in offline spaces around the world. Amira is the author of the hybrid genre books Forgery and Minced English, a number of limited edition print works, and several works of electronic literature, including A dictionary of the revolution, which won Denmark’s 2019 Public Library Prize for Electronic Literature. Amira holds US and Egypt passports and has made her home in both countries.
